ABOUT THE CLUB
The Club is located off Cruikshank road in the Town of Deerfield, NY. It comprises 145 acres of land located in Oneida County, a main clubhouse with a kitchen, and all such facilities are fully handicap accessible. There is also an attached pavilion with nine picnic tables. The range is used for general target shooting and skeet shooting, and may also be used as a parking area for large events when the range is closed. In addition there is a small pond on the upper part of the club’s property.  Plans are in progress to develop it for use by members’ children during family days & fishing derbies.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Members are allowed access to the buildings and grounds. With this access comes the responsibility of safety and security.  It is the responsibility of the members to secure all gates and lock all buildings when leaving. It is also the responsibility of the members to remove their own trash. The club does not have a trash removal service and depends on its members to help in this area. Members are responsible for reporting any damage to the club grounds or property. Reports can be made to any club officer. Irresponsible activities, which can cause damage or injuries, should also be reported. Problems and suggestions may be brought up for discussion at club meetings.
MESSAGE BOARD
Members are required to clip their membership card on the message board when using the range.  If a member is going to be out of general view, hiking, riding an ATV or hunting, that member is required to leave a note on the board leaving their name, the date, time and the general area in which they will be.
HUNTING
Only members are allowed to hunt on the club property during the open season, and all conservation laws apply. Under no circumstance are guests allowed to hunt on club property during open season. If a member intends to use club property during the open hunting season, a written notice of such intention must be given to the club.  Include in the notice of intent the general time and location intend to hunt. In addition, a notice must be left on the board so that others using the range and club property are aware of who is there.  Permanent blinds or tree stands are not allowed on club property.
FISHING
At this time there are no fish in the pond. We are evaluating its re-stocking and general usage.
THE RANGE
The range is 225 yards from shooting stands to the furthest targets.  Target frames are removable and slide into PVC pipe.   Target Stands are 2’ wide and 6’ long but lose 18” of height when stood up in the PVC pipe.  Targets are in rows spaced 25 yards apart starting at 25 yards and extending out to the two fixed targets at 225 yards.  Members are allowed to shoot during normal daylight hours. The range is closed when the club is rented, and when used for training or safety classes. Members may bring a non-member guest up to shoot.  Members may not bring more than one guest at a time or repeatedly bring the same non member(s) up to shoot. If your friend(s) like the range, give them a membership form and sponsor them. All members have the same rights on the range. The club expects that good manners, shooting courtesy and common sense will ensure friendly and cooperative usage.   All guns on the firing line must be made safe and cannot be handled while anyone is on the range. Glass and other fragmental material may not be used for targets. Members are required to use paper targets, clay pigeons and approved swinging targets only.  Do not place clay pigeons against the legs of the target holders.  Remove all paper targets when leaving.  Do not bring your junk to the shooting range. When using club target frames please center the target so damage is done only to the target backer board and not the frame. The range committee welcomes any ideas about how to improve or make better use of the range. Contact any committee member or bring your ideas to the monthly meeting. Construction of a pistol range is under way, the ground work is complete and only the pavilion remains to be built.  At this time access to the pistol range is strictly prohibited.
FIRE ARMS ON AND OFF THE RANGE
All Federal Laws that apply to firearms will be followed on the club property. Members are also required to follow all New York State Laws dealing with the use of firearms. After shooting, members must remove any used targets and pickup and remove spent shells. The club depends on its members to keep the grounds and property clean. Members are asked to help when they can by removing any trash they generate and any left behind by less considerate members.
SNOWMOBILES
During the winter months, snowmobiles are allowed ingress and egress across the club via the corridor trails. Any snowmobilers who are Non-members are not allowed any other access to club grounds.
4 WHEELERS – “ATV’s”
ATV’s operated by club members may be used on the club grounds and trails.  Please keep in mind that such trail use does not extend on the snowmobile trails off club property. Most of the trails are closed to ATV’s at the landowners’ request.  Your rights as a club member allow you access to the club so long as you conduct yourself in a safe and proper manner. Wanton, malicious or intentional destruction of trails or club property is not allowed and is grounds for cancellation of club membership. Legal action may be taken to secure financial restitution.
CLUB HOUSE AND PAVILION
The clubhouse and pavilion are for the use of members only. Members and their immediate family (family generally means father, mother and their child or children) may use the pavilion or the clubhouse on a casual basis. If members wish to have their extended family or friends gather for a party of any kind they may rent the clubhouse. The club encourages members to get together and spend time on the grounds and property working on projects related to hunting, fishing or shooting. An event such as the Wednesday night clay shooting started as a small group and is now a scheduled event.  Planned repeated event must be scheduled with the board to prevent conflicts with other club functions. Events such as Hunter Safety, Snowmobile Safety and Scouting activities are scheduled events open to the public. Other events must be pre-approved by the board and if applicable, a rental fee may be charged.
MEMBER & NON-MEMBER RENTALS
At various times the club will be rented as part of its fundraising activities.  The shooting range and club grounds are CLOSED when the property is being rented. The members renting will have exclusive use of the kitchen, clubhouse, parking lots, pavilion and tables. ALCOHOL SALES are PROHIBITED during rentals or club events due to the club’s insurance restrictions and may only be sold when special insurance is obtained and the appropriate license issued by the New York State ABC Board. Members must sign a rental contract; leasing agreement and pay a deposit prior to the rental of club property.
SAFETY COURSES
The club sponsors and holds Hunter Safety Classes at the clubhouse with some range involvement. Snowmobile Safety Classes are also held at the clubhouse with no range use at all during any of the sessions.
OTHER ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
The club has broad limits on the type of events that can be held. Training sessions, educational classes and special events can be scheduled with the board. Members are encouraged to contact the club officers at the monthly meetings.
